POPLAR HILL PICNIC DONATES SILENT AUCTION PROCEEDS TO SMGH

The 126th Annual Poplar Hill Picnic was held on Friday, June 13th- Saturday, June 14th, 2014 at the beautiful Poplar Hill Park.  This well-known community event, sponsored by the Poplar Hill & District Lions Clubs, offered a variety of attractions, contests and delicious foods.

An impressive silent auction was held at the Pavilion on the Saturday, which offered attendees the chance to bid on a variety of locally donated goods and services.  This auction raised $2,000 which was then donated to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation in support of expanding breast cancer services.  These local services will allow breast cancer patients access to tests and procedures closer to home.

“Each of the event committee members currently know, or have known in the past, someone who has dealt with breast cancer,” says Marlo Daniel, Poplar Hill Picnic Committee member.  “When we became aware of the need for support for local breast cancer services at SMGH, we wanted to help out.”
